Sunfury — a modern TBC experience

We're pleased to reveal the details about our upcoming TBC realm, Sunfury! Discover all the specifics below, and stay tuned for a future post addressing your questions and providing further clarification in a FAQ as we approach the release.

Release date

  • Friday, October 20 2023 at 14.00 CEST

Realm type

  • PvE (opt-in incentivized PvP)
  • Cross-faction play enabled. You'll be able to chat, group, trade, join guilds and participate in Raids, Battlegrounds and Arenas as well as trade through the cross faction Auction House with members of the opposing faction
  • Quest item drops are shared for party members.


  • x5 experience rate. 20% extra experience from kills and 5% more damage done while flagged for PvP in the open world
    • Experience rates are adjustable by clicking on the experience bar in-game (between x1 and x5)
    • The opt-in PvP buff granting additional experience and damage done is only active for players level 15 or higher
  • x2 Professions for Vanilla (1-300) skill ranges, x1 for TBC (300-375) skill ranges
  • x3 Honor rates (x4 on weekends)
  • x2 Quest Item drop rate
  • x1.5 Uncommon (Green) and Rare (Blue) Items drop rate in Vanilla content.

  • 3.3.5a adapted for TBC with many modern features. Note: you'll only be able to use 3.3.5a AddOns

Highlighted features

  • Racial Ability Choice — choose your character’s race and racial ability independently from each other during character creation or adjust it through a service any time
  • Autolearn — automatic, free learning of spells and abilities, weapon skills, class quest spells, and mounts at levels 30 and 60
  • Dungeon Finder — available for both Vanilla and TBC content
  • Free dual-spec at level 40 (triple-spec also available at level 40 in the Endless Store)
  • 3v3 Arena Solo Queue — an alternative way to earn daily Honor and Arena Points, replacing the 5v5 bracket
  • Transmogrification — every item you've ever equipped gets added to your collection. You'll then be able to choose any item from your collection to change the appearance of your gear anytime you like. More details will be disclosed in an upcoming post
  • 3.3.5a quality of life features: trading of raid-bound items, Enchanting vellums, Arena unit frames, accurate threat data and many more!

Early content release schedule

  • T4 (Gruul's Lair, Magtheridon's Lair, Karazhan) will be released on the next raid reset day after the realm's release (Wednesday 25th 18:00 server time)
  • Ogri’la, Sha’tari Skyguard, Netherwing quest hubs will be available on launch
  • Items such as Deathblow X11 Goggles and Design: Great Dawnstone or Design: Chaotic Skyfire Diamond will be available on launch


  • Increased content difficulty. More details will be disclosed in an upcoming post.
  • Attunements will be required for each content tier release but will be lifted in advance before the next tier launches
  • Heroic Dungeon keys will require Honored instead of Revered reputation
  • Daily Heroic quests will be available on launch
  • T4 bosses will drop 3 Tier tokens (1 of each type)
  • Karazhan will reset twice a week (like Zul’Aman)
  • Cooldown reset — player cooldowns up to 10 minutes will reset after each encounter ends or resets in 25m raids


  • PvP Reputation Sets will be available on release with Honored reputation requirements
  • Daily Battleground quest available on launch
  • Arena Point flush happens twice a week (Wednesday and Sunday 6:00 AM server time)
  • 2v2 and 3v3 brackets award increased arena points (2v2 awards points equivalent to 3v3, 3v3 awards points equivalent to 5v5)
  • Cross-faction Battlegrounds — allowing same-faction matches and mixed faction teams for lower queue times, with race appearance adjusted according to the team you're on.
  • Your character’s appearance will match the Racial ability that you’ve chosen in Arena and duels
  • Cross Faction Arena – you can play with opposing-faction players, but your Racial ability will temporarily change while joining Arena. More details will be disclosed in an upcoming post
